Suriname and Guyana are one of the most exciting offshore oil and gas frontiers in the world. On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel – Oil & Gas Contracts to lead the offshore legal team and to advise executive management on the contracts that shape the country's offshore future.

What you'll do
- Lead and coach the legal team supporting the offshore business.
- Draft, review and negotiate Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs) and other complex petroleum agreements.
- Advise executive management on legal, contractual and strategic offshore matters.
- Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance with petroleum and mining legislation.
- Advise on potential disputes and on international developments in the upstream oil and gas sector.
What you bring
- A law degree (LLB, LLM, JD or equivalent).
- 15+ years of relevant legal experience, including substantial time at senior level in a corporate or similarly complex environment.
- Proven upstream oil and gas experience, including drafting and negotiating PSCs and JOAs.
- Strong knowledge of petroleum law, contract law and international regulation.
- Experience advising senior management in an international, multidisciplinary setting.
- Excellent English.

- Dutch (Suriname's official language).
- Experience on both operator and non-operator sides of upstream contracts.
- Experience with international arbitration in the energy sector.
