Profile Reliability Superintendent

We currently seek a Reliability Superintendent for one of our clients. The key objective of the Reliability Superintendent is to improve and optimize process and production systems reliability. The Reliability Superintendent is involved in strategy and planning to ensure accurate and timely operation of the units, staff and administration activities.

Tasks & responsibilities:
  • Compile a team of capable and qualified staff to develop and implement policies to meet the objectives;
  • Ensure the quality of the maintenance program;
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for maintenance and operations to understand;
  • Monitor the condition of the equipment and process these observations into KPI’s and reports;
  • Point of contact and source of information for operators, mechanics, engineers in regard to all maintenance processes and related systems and strategies;
  • Set job priorities based on refinery production schedule and maintenance schedule;
  • Lead meetings to set objectives, priorities and targets;
  • Report any deviations and limitations to the refinery operations team;
  • Ensure all procedures and programs for critical equipment are developed and implemented;
  • Attend to critical operational activities such as start-ups and shutdowns;
  • Lead the failure analysis process and establish and implement preventive measures to avoid operational disruptions or malfunctions;
  • Participate in risk analysis activities as well as investigations of incidents in order to provide recommendations for corrective action;
  • Compile and interpret statistical data and communicate this in a professional and understandable manner.

Requirements Reliability Superintendent

  • Bachelor and/or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in a similar lead reliability engineering role at an Oil Refinery;
  • Extensive knowledge of (reliability) engineering principles, processes and techniques associated with design and process of equipment;
  • Practical experience in maintaining and operating refinery and gas production equipment;
  • Experience in developing long term maintenance plans;
  • Experience in problem solving using RCA techniques;
  • Ability to support MOC’s and HAZOP’s;
  • Ability to scope, plan and manage machine overhauls;
  • Excellence in technical report writing;
  • Experience with SAP;
  • Competences: business awareness and management skills, organizational skills, ability to understand detailed information, interpersonal and communication skills to form effective multi-level professional relationships, trustworthy and approachable, persuasive and negotiating skills.
